An apology to the Palin Family

As I read this morning about Gov. Palin's personal Yahoo email account being hacked, utmost disgust came over me.

Since her announcement of McCain's running mate for president/vice-president, this woman and her family have been outright attacked by others who do not want to see her elected.
Conjured up "headline news!" stories about her firing of an insubordinate employee and concern over a state trooper that drinks while on duty and makes threats to her family.
On behalf of the good people of America, we apologize Palins.

False claims about the maternity of her beautiful baby boy.  A trashy magazine, US Weekly, further denigrated mother and child by using their picture for their cover page complete with a trashy headline. Disgusting. Why? For money and political gain.
On behalf of the good people of America, we apologize Palins.

The list of "hail-Mary's" that some keep throwing is endless; Bristol Palin's pregnancy, per diem expenses, etc. I can not remember them all and frankly, they are not worth remembering.

The latest is of course, some group of geeks hacking into the Governor's Yahoo email account and then gawker.com posting the contents of the account on the web. Disgusting. There is that word again. I have been using it a lot lately in describing the behavior of the loony left in this country.
Back before the invent of the Internet, the web and email, cretins like these hackers were powerless.
These people have no respect for their fellow man (woman). They have no respect for privacy. They have no common decency.
Pre-Internet, geeks like these burned ants with a magnifying glass, kicked puppies to get their thrills. Now, they are able to exhibit their moral lackings in a way that hurts others. Many others and they get off on it. It is their two-minutes of fame and glory to see their work on television. Geeks Gone Wild.
gawker.com then posts the results of the intrusion; family photos, emails between the Governor and others, and her contact list i.e. email address of her mother/father, etc.
What's that word again? Oh yes, disgusting.

All of this in an attempt to discredit, ruin Governor Sarah Palin's political aspirations.
Can it be stopped? Are there laws that could be created to stop this lying, slander etc.? The answer is no.
Not when the Internet is involved. E-snipers (electronic snipers) can easily say anything about anyone anonymously with no fear of being prosecuted for slander/libel.
What can happen is that the major media outlets of this country get back to respectful, honest journalism. Biased editing, word selection is ok since we now live in an age of Entertain-News (spin put on new stories to make them more entertaining for a media outlet's intended audience). FNC, CNN, NBC, CBS.... they all do this currently.
However, respectful, honest journalism requires the media outlet to ask itself questions before presenting a story.

- does the story provide the people with honest facts about a subject? Are the facts, with 100% certainty, facts?
- is the story merely a personal attack or conversely, glorification of someone, something?
- is the driving reason for publication of the story to appease a select group of people?

In the end, these kooks that keep digging in Alaska are only accomplishing one thing; mobilize more and more people to vote for the "victim" in this case, Sarah Palin.
Keep on diggin' boys!

Finally, John McCain doesn't use a computer, pack a Blackberry, send email.
Maybe he is more intelligent than we all thought?

Obama should forget Palin, get serious about winning the independent vote

News stories abound that the democrats have "30 lawyers" in Alaska putting shovels to the dirt in an effort to dig up some skeletons on Sarah Palin. If true, Obama should pull them back and move on simply because he can not win the battle to diminish her.

Most of the folks of this country have already sided with Palin, not necessarily politically, but morally. She is obviously the American story of working your way up from the roots.
Idahoan, Alaskan, University of Idaho grad, PTA, Mayor, Governor.
It is easy to take pot-shots at the Harvard, Stanford, Yale elite, which many of our political figures hail from. Doing so to someone who made their own way from northern Idaho/southern Alaska comes across as mean, elitist and immature.

Unless Barack's crew finds something that is truly morally damaging for Ms. Palin; remember one of her biggest assets is her morals-led way of living, anything they bring up will only serve to bolster the McCain/Palin ticket and diminish his.

Much like a school bully does when the kid that he constantly picks on finally stands up and says enough, Barack needs to lose interest in Palin. He needs to accept the fact that she is on the ticket and swinging haymakers at her is not going to score him an easy knockout in the 08 election.

Move on Barack.

Three Obama Mistakes and One Good Move

One.
Not picking Hillary for his vice presidential running mate. Sure hindsight is 20/20 after the McCain selection of the incredible Sarah Palin, but his campaign should have seen this chess move coming. McCain outsmarted the team of Obama and they are still scrambling to mount a worthwhile counterattack.

Two.
"Moose shooter".
Words used by Obama on Tuesday to poke fun at the fact that Sarah Palin is a proud Alaskan hunter. The quip succeeded in getting laughs from the crowd and all other "gonna-vote for Obama no matter what" types but also succeeded in further pushing him away from being viewed as respectful of others' ways of life. He needs the swing voters / undecided to win, he will only lose them by using sarcastic remarks that stereotype people negatively.

Three.
Putting lipstick on a pig. C'mon. How stupid was this? Where is his judgement? Some noticed that he seemed to pause before delivering the line in a "uhh I don't know that I should use that." moment but nonetheless delivered the line. Personally I don't feel it was an explicit personal attack against Gov. Sarah Palin. It was however an implicit attack used to get laughs again from voters that have already cast their Obama ballot. This comment will do nothing but hurt him going forward.

Good move.
Obama appeared on Bill O'Reilly's The Factor. Just the same as Hillary when she sat for the Factor, Obama became more of a real-person after the appearance. In fact, I can sleep a little better now having a better grasp of who this guy is, if he wins the election.

In the end, if the Democrats want to diminish Sarah Palin, they must challenge her on policy, procedure, and past decisions. Doing anything else will come right back and hit them in the face. America is enamored with Palin, her record, her family, her freshness, her youth, her frontier-ness.
Mavericks straight ahead.
